One system. One pathway. Measurable outcomes.

What SAS Brings to Your Organisation

One System. many Impacts.

  • Services: Create a standardised balance and falls prevention pathway.
  • Organisations: Support quality improvement and demonstrate measurable outcomes.

Give clinicians a practical, structured method for measuring balance and establishing a baseline.

PERSONALISE

Target intervention to the individual

Use the SAS Score and assessment result to help guide appropriate balance exercise.

"I consider my SAS Mat an essential tool for effective rehabilitation in aged care. The colours and footprints make it easy for clients to complete their exercises correctly and practice independently."

"SAS Mat is fabulous! It has helped me feel stronger and steadier — I now confidently accept invitations to walk with friends on uneven surfaces."

Our organisation has ordered a number of these mats for our facilitators to use. Our team is really excited about using them as we often struggle to instruct older people, who are (as according to evidence) , not used to doing targeted exercise, and quite fearful of balance exercise. These mats have a wonderful grading system that will help our participants build confidence as their skills improve, and also provide a them with a easy guide to performing the exercises accurately and therefore more effectively. Our Stepping On team aim to help people embark on a series of exercises that will aid in falls prevention, by providing a solid foundation with those exercises and we believe that the mat will be a useful tool to help get them there, and continue to engage in the exercises beyond the program. “I recently purchased the SAS mat for my home-based Physiotherapy business, I have found it to be a very useful tool to use in my mobile business. My clients have found the mat easy to use and the visual prompts help train/challenge their balance, strength and agility. We perform static and dynamic balance exercises and easily add in motor and cognitive dual-tasking with the visual features on the SAS mat. I would highly recommend this product for Physiotherapists working with elderly clients to enhance falls prevention.

I have used the SAS Mat twice weekly with my group program providing balance training for people with dementia. The SAS Mat is fantastic as it provides a clear cue and I can say “walk on the red footprints”. It’s a clear replicable intervention that I can use in the clinic or anywhere in the facility.

We’ve been using the SAS Mat and it’s been great because it’s so simple and easy to use for assessments. We’ve had quite a few people in the clinic see others doing the assessment and wanting to try it themselves. The table you provided has also been really helpful in giving us an idea of where clients stand compared to norms.

I have continued most of the exercises on my daily walks with the balancing exercises at home on the SAS MAT. This has been invaluable, and I feel greatly improved in confidence with no falls since. (The SAS MAT keeps me honest too when it ‘looks’ at me from the floor!). I can balance on the blue feet now.

I ordered one for my 75 year old mum who was just diagnosed with early Parkinson's, and my mother-in-law who recently had a fall. I thought they would be a great tool for them both to improve balance and strength! My mum has tried it out and really likes it! We've been following the exercises in the pamphlet and will slowly progress through the stages."

I really appreciate the mat that you recommended. With it, my mother is willing to do step excesses at home. The design of the picture on the mat is very helpful: with that picture, my mother can follow the pictures to step, otherwise, is very hard to ask her to do because she is 91 years old. With your lesson, my mother also gets improved.

My client really liked it and is keen to purchase one if it is available to buy. He liked the foot positioning/placement feedback and I made a few drills out of it which he found were complimented by the mat: Hop scotch type of pattern tandem walking -> wide, mid then narrow stance Cones on the dots for toe tapping Backward tandem walking Mini skater jumps He said that he was able to correct himself a lot better and made his movements more precise.
